The hysteria that is Film Awards Season is nearly upon us and, as it is every mid-December, the proverbial engine was revved this morning by the announcement of the nominations for the 2013 Golden Globe Awards. This sort of announcement fires us up here at The Grand as the Globes are one of film’s most prestigious awards and their nominations continue to set the table for Oscar nominations (which are scheduled to be announced January 10th, three days prior to the Golden Globes).
These announcements always seem to reinforce our taste in film here at The Grand as we never fail to have shown the majority of the films nominated. This year is no exception. In total, 37 different films were nominated for awards and The Grand has shown (or will show) 21 of them.
We are especially proud to have shown:
–Four of the films nominated for “Best Picture: Comedy of Musical” (‘Silver Linings Notebook’ starts 12.25)
-Four of the films nominated for “Best Actor: Comedy or Musical” (‘Hyde Park on the Hudson’ scheduled to start 1.4)
–Four of the films nominated for “Best Actor: Drama”
–Four of the films nominated for “Best Actress: Comedy or Musical”
–Four of the films nominated for “Best Foreign Film” (‘Rust and Bone” scheduled to start 1.25 & ‘Amour’ scheduled to show in February)
–Three of films nominated for “Best Actress: Drama”
–Three of the films nominated for “Best Supporting Actress”
Additionally, we’re thrilled that Lincoln (currently playing!) led all films with seven nominations, Silver Linings Playbook received four and that “The Best Exotic Marigold hotel” received three!
The entire nominee list is posted below with films that have been or will be shown at The Grand are in bold.
Let the 2013 film awards speculation begin (or, in our case, intensify)!
